Mental Health Cooperative of Nashville was awarded a grant to provide state of the art training on co-occurring disorders at several sites across Tennessee. The grant was supported by the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Office of Co-Occurring Disorders. Consultant Holly Cook, MHC Directors Steve Sheehan and Michael Kirshner and TDMHDD COD Coordinator Ken Horvath participated in this effort. “MHC has emerged as leader in the evidence based treatment of co-occurring disorders and is proud to help others to increase their knowledge base and to add a few new tools to their toolboxes” says Kirshner. MHC trained 235 front line and management professionals.
Additional training opportunities provided by the Mental Health Cooperative via the grant were a full day symposium held at MHC where a number of well respected professionals educated the crowd and a teleconference presented by Dr. Alan Lynch, Medical Director for MHC targeted toward psychiatric providers across the state.
